Re: Filene's

whoah what did you go up in the parking garage for those shots?

Wicked Pissah ! ! !

Re: Filene's

Yep. They're a great way to get a little elevation.

Re: Filene's

Anybody notice the "PARK Open 24 Hours" signs that were revealed when the Filene's signs were removed from the clocks on the Summer and Washington Street sides? I wonder what the story is behind them. Was there ever a garage associated with Filene's?

Re: Filene's

Why were the Filene's signs removed? Are the clocks still operating?

Re: Filene's

^^ I doubt it. I assume most, if not all, of the electrical service has been removed from the building by now.

Not sure why the signs were removed other than disassociating the project with the original Filene's store. As for the clocks, they've been stuck at 8:59 for almost 6 months. I'm sure they'll get them working after the project is completed. I'm starting to miss the carillon playing the Godfather theme while walking to Park Street.

Re: Filene's

^^ Yeah, the bells better come back.

I wonder what the last song played was?

Christmas decorations were also put up over Summer Street and a wreath placed on the building. I think it's the same reason a branch of the Borough of Manhattan Unemployment Office opened on Temple Place. They're filming a movie and the Filene's Building is a stand-in for a parking garage.

Re: Filene's

It doesn't look much like a parking garage, even in its current state.

Re: Filene's

It says the "park 24" on one side of the clocks and "Filene's" on the other.

Re: Filene's

I was just about to post the same thing. Filene's has four clocks -- one facing each way on the Washington Street side, and one facing each way on the Summer Street side. The south- and west-facing clocks say "PARK Open 24 Hours", but the north- and east-facing clocks still say Filene's.

I suppose that in its gutted state, it could look like a garage -- but only if the camera entirely avoids the street level which is boarded up with big glossy "ONE FRANKLIN" advertising signs all over it.
