Lots of municipalities offer composting to some degree. Boston has it for garden waste. But much less common is collection of food waste. Jersey City, however, is piloting a food waste collection service via E-Bikes. Boston already has similar services (including some that use bicycles) in the private sector such as Bootstrap Compost, City Compost, Cero Cooperative, and Black Earth Compost. Clearly the private market has shown the viability of services time for municipalities to step in and scale them up to the standard of regular garbage pickups to reduce unnecessary waste in the garbage and sewer systems and to provide compost.
