The BRA estimates Boston's population to be atleast 616,535, people give too much credit to the census bureau, They undercounted NYC by 800,000 during the 1990 census.

is that for Miami 'proper', that is, the core not including the surrounding communities that more accurately describe "Miami" (coral gables, coconut grove, kendall, etc?)
 
Yes, that is Miami proper, as in the city of Miami. It does not include all the separate municipalities clueless out of towners associate as being part of the city to convince themselves that Miami has the land mass of Houston.
 
So? Let's compare apples with apples. Do you want to discuss Boston? How many visitors assume Brookline and Cambridge are part of our core city?
