On a side note, all the true progressives will be meeting at 3 pm in support of Gaza. I’m sure that’ll make Zionists such as Mayor Wu uncomfortable, but whatevs. Thats the trade off. Her (and everyone else’s) pseudo sensibilities shall continue to be offended.

Agreed . . . which is why this is a golden opportunity to leverage the stadium to get (1) a pedestrian bridge connecting Assembly to the casino/stadium (which would be a significantly shorter walk than from Sullivan), and (2) electrification of the Newbury/Rockport line and an infill station that serves this area. Then redevelop the massive strip mall area behind the casino into a mixed-use TOD. If the state plays its cards right, this could end up being a transit win.

A lot of it depends on how they design the pedestrian route, and where they place the actual entrance to the stadium, but they are actually both about 1 KM (using an imaginary pedestrian crossing for Assembly). Ultimately, though, Sullivan is a better place to focus on pedestrian upgrades, because it's the only location near there where a commuter rail station would work.

No part of this is true. Wu did not torpedo the project. The project is not dead.

She pointed out that it was absurd for Kraft to think he could negotiate an entire approval and benefits agreement with one of two municipalities in which is parcel would sit, while ignoring the other and not even telling them about the negotiations until the MOA was signed. As long as the border is where it is, she is entirely right do do this.

Boston deserves its own CBA with Kraft. It will get one if Kraft really wants to build here.

And just so we're clear: ain't nothing progressive about a billionaire's soccer palace next to a billionaire's casino (both billionaires, FWIW, support Trump).

The walk to/from Sullivan Station (14 minutes) is pleasant. Does the rotary at Sullivan Square suck? Yes—preach. Does the traffic suck on Alford Street Bridge? Not as bad as the intersections it serves, but could certainly improve.

Has City of Boston/MassDOT begun designing and funding improvements at Sullivan Square, Rutherford, Cambridge Street, Mystic Ave, and Maffa Way? Yes.

Does MBTA/MassDOT have a Silver Line Extension Study with preference for transit signal prioritized dedicated bus lanes, and bus network redesign plans for round the clock bus service frequency along Broadway/Alford street? Yes.

Has City of Everett successfully pounced on MA Gaming Commission Community Mitigation funding for further build out of the bike-ped network along the Mystic River? Yes.

Have Cities of Everett and Chelsea jointly applied for $50M FEMA Building Resilient Infrastructure on Coastlines (BRIC) grant to protect their waterfronts from rising sea level concerns? Yes. Has City of Boston done the same through other funding mechanisms and private investment? Yes (including as mitigation for new Mystic front development in Charlestown).

Is the proposed stadium consistent with DeMaria administration goals to transform a contaminated, neglected, dirty industrial waterfront into a high visibility, vibrant, sustainably-designed entertainment destination? Absolutely.

A dynamic city is never done. The work is continuing, and the need to identify and do more will always be there. But the enemy of dynamism is a rebuke of imagination. My plea for skeptic stakeholders resigned to the status quo: please keep an open mind.

A stadium would be progressive in the sense that it would trigger further redevelopment of Everett, and hopefully motivate the Chelsea Silver Line to be extended thru Everett to Sullivan Sq. The economic benefits to Everett that the stadium would bring include creation of local jobs, also it would probably spur additional residential development (including low income units), and it would prompt further redevelopment of Everett's industrial wasteland. It would be a game changer (no pun intended) for Everett.

You’re new around Boston, aren’t you? But seriously, I hope that you’re right and that this is just textbook posturing on her end. However, I’ve seen this movie play out and I don’t like the ending.

FWIW, I don’t support any political party or politician at this point. Kraft is a horrible human being on so many levels. He’s a Zionist and a human trafficker. However, he should be able to build without generational NIMBYism standing in his way.

I get it. I’m a hothead. But I’m passionate about Boston getting over its NIMBY way of life. I’m glad that people are starting to grow up a little bit on these issues. The Olympics were just poorly planned and that’s a whole other can of worms.

I enjoy sports. I enjoy watching sports live and at home. It’s not who I am as a person. However, I would love to see the inner belt build something other than a brick hotel, unaffordable condos, and/or biotech. It’s the same formula in terms of planning around here and there is no light at the end of the tunnel on these grand endeavors.

What grinds my gears is that whenever Boston starts to shed its skin, the people immediate go back into that NIMBY mindset. I think Mayor Wu’s election was a referendum from comfortable residents who weren’t quite ready for drastic change.

A few days ago, I saw a few people in Boston said to me when I posted this on my feed, some of the older Boston people said about the proposed Revs said “It’s about time.” Another said “I think Boston is ready this time for another stadium.”

And then a few months later it came out that Kraft’s masseuse was a 60 year old licensed masseuse with American citizenship. None of the women claimed to be trafficked, even after the DA switched sides and charged them (the women they were pretending to save!) with prostitution.

i thought the bridge from Draw 7 to Casino was already in the works? I suppose the remainder is a bridge from the north head house down to the Draw 7?

If I remember correctly, didn't they plant the cameras under the guise of a bomb threat?

Anyways, no need to worry about a practice facility for the team in the general vicinity of this potential new stadium. Kraft built a brand new facility for the Revs at Gillette a few years ago.

As an aside, I wouldn't be surprised if a few teams base themselves in Boston for the 2026 World Cup.
