Norman B. Leventhal

What a role model of tasteful urbanism and smart design that man was. May his development and philanthropic legacy continue to inspire his successors.

Center Plaza is a miss even though he says "it defines the area"... in a way he is right. Overall though the city is worse off without the likes of him. If there were more developers who had a true love of Boston the way he did we'd have a much better city in which to live.

All props for the money he gave to the BPL for their map division. Their web site is a great reference for map lovers, and especially for those of us who love Boston history. RIP.

If I'm not mistaken, Mr. Leventhal provided all the maps on display in the Boston Harbor Hotel. For that, and his wonderful park in PO Square, I will remember him.
