Portland International Jetport | PWM

Very Nice, Thanks Portlander!

To me, the distance for Gate 14 is a non issue - Have to walk one way or the other, this just happens to be down the jet bridge vs. in a terminal. And the length of it makes it appear narrower than it is I assume.
Bigger issue/question - How will the space be for waiting, with 3 gates in such close proximity?

Also, what is the flooring in the new area? Can't tell if it's tile (I see the Paul White sign, which I equate to tile in my mind for some reason :) ) or carpet...

Agree with the distance not being a problem and Paul mentioned that if he had the funding to physically extend the concourse further you'd still be walking the same yardage. This photo shows that a portion of the walkway is wider than the rest and even the narrower section was not confining due to the windows in my opinion. The extra 4000 sf of hold area and restrooms (not part of the original plans) that I pestered Paul about for years will greatly improve the passenger experience and make the Gate 10-14 area not as congested during peak hours.

Tile has been installed in the bathrooms and the section in front of the restroom entrances (post #1438) where the water fountains are. Carpet will cover the greenish prepped area as a worker was installing it when I took the photo. We like the composition and color of the new tile so much that Paul may consider using it to eventually replace the pink and cream tile on the lower level corridor where the FIS station will eventually be built. Hope that helps um1990.

100% - Thanks!!

As a side note, I think it's awesome to see where PWM is today (and overall it seems to have a bright future)... I remember vividly when Manchester expanded years ago (late 90's early 2000's ?), and many thought it would practically be the death of PWM

We should be grateful that this happened. It's a big improvement and a big thanks to Paul to design something with little funds!!!! Now onto the other end of the terminal to fix the other ground loading platforms that are a disgrace with missing fabric...

And as it turned out, the "Southwest effect" was the main catalyst that led to the construction of MHT's new terminal in 1994. The arrival of Southwest Airlines in Boston and eventually to Portland commenced a 15 consecutive year decline in passenger counts for Manchester. The leakage from southern Maine to MHT during the Southwest peak years was huge and I feel it stunted PWM's growth for almost a decade. Now MHT has slipped to the 6th busiest airport in New England just behind BTV which is now the 5th busiest. However, it has shown recent improvements in passenger growth and airline options and has the infrastructure and runway length already in place to rebound quickly especially if it can land some international destinations.

If I had to choose an airline to end Portland service, Frontier would have been my selection. Hopefully their employees will find new positions with the remaining 8 airlines.

I wonder who is going to Pick up the loss of seats to MCO? SWA should step up or B6 offer additional flights. Well, F9 made a good run, they offered at one time on the dart board, MCO, TPA, ORD, ATL, PHL, DEN

SWA runs direct to Orlando in February for. A couple of Saturdays and sells out, they also do a run without a plane change also.

Breeze announces PSM to RDU and MHT to Myrtle Beach...is Breeze building up Pease as an alternative to pwm?
