Portland International Jetport | PWM

Personally, I think there are more than enough hotels near the terminal or in close proximity to the airport and will lose zero sleep if this project does not materialize.

B6 will running a special FLL run next year for spring break from PWM

We'll take it and JAX-FLL seems a little bizarre to me but I'll defer to JetBlue's route management team who know a hell of a lot more than I do about schedules and profitability. :)

I am glad that B6 has finally recognized that we need FLL service, hopefully this turns into something long-term

Jackson Hole is a mainly tourist destination though. I looked up Cheyenne, and it's ranked in the 300's, as are Sheridan and Gillette, which are both slightly busier and on the I-90 corridor.
Not sure I get the point of this graphic. A lot of these spikes have nothing to do with traveling to alternative airports but to hot destinations i.e. BZN-Bozeman. It serves not only heavily for tourists but increasingly business as the area grows exponentially and is not an alternative solution to another airport. Jackson Hole is almost strictly tourist traffic. The rest of Wyoming commonly uses Denver and Billings for air service. North Dakota .... well ... is North Dakota. Did ya hear the one about Sven and Olie?

Got back from a business trip Friday. Flew Southwest for the last time before they switch to assigned seating.

Flying tip - Don't attempt a 45 minute connection via Chicago from November through April

Anyway, the trip south [PWM->BWI leg] was a full 737-700 to Baltimore [few if any open seats]
Coming back home Friday evening [BWI->PWM leg], there were 60-70 empty seats on the 737-800... No one needed to sit in the middle seats for the most part.
Just thought the difference was interesting... but get why it may be.

Here are couple pictures - First I'd seen of the expanded gate area. Some birds were also enjoying it... And as much as I normally like Holy Donuts, the pre-packaged ones were of no interest to me.

Great pics!

Maine: "Move here and bring your remote work with you!" (See pic xx36246)

Also Maine: "We have a housing crisis and no place for the people who work here to live!"

🤔

Maine: We can't cut any trees down or clear any land for new housing.

Also Maine: We can clear thousands of acre swaths of forest land for new power lines to other states and countries, mega solar fields & gravel pits.

November enplanements are out with PWM showing 165,584 passengers which is a 7,000 increase over November 2024 and equates to a 4.2% gain. I predict Portland will exceed 2,600,000 passengers for the year and a 9.3% gain over 2024 and it has already broken the all time record without adding December numbers! We may be the busiest airport in the country still lacking an FIS facility from my early research on the matter and there are quite a few airports with half of PWM's volume that already have them in place. Senator Collins and Senator King a little help please?

I realize that Boston is x10 bigger than Portland in city and metro populations, but they always seem to get things right. Why? Why would PWM give up this kind of space for dumb advertising? Is it that desperate? It's not unlike the "Civic Center" being plastered all over its sides with "Cross..." this and "Cross..." that.

Clear Channel runs the advertising at the jetport. I think their contract is up for renewal. Does anyone know?

When the deal was being done, didn't anyone with the Jetport have the foresight to make this one area above the down escalator available to promote or to create a first impression visual for the city? You know, like EVERY other airport in the country does. Change it. Do a barter. If not, then go ahead and let them put up a big McDonald's ad, or something for Weight Watchers, or Visit New Hampshire.

I like this idea.... should tell Paul B.

Long waits at Boston Logan Airport just got a lot more fun. Terminals A, B, and C now feature 20 free classic arcade games, from Centipede to Frogger.

The games, provided by Hometown Arcade, which has gaming locations in Norwood and Northampton, as well as Bloomfield, New Jersey, offer travelers a nostalgic way to pass the time before or after a flight. Boston.com reached out to Logan Airport and Hometown Arcade for more information about how long the installation will remain but did not hear back in time for publication.

You can find the arcade favorites past security in Terminal C by Shake Shack and near baggage claim in Terminals A, B, and C, according to Logan Airport’s Instagram post. Other classic games include Donkey Kong, Burgerman, and Galaga.

Curious, are there any developments for PWM >> LHR through British Airways still? Google isn't googling and I recall something around '21 or '22....

No chance that PWM will ever have service to LHR. Heathrow is one of the most constrained airports in the world and landing slots at LHR are EXTREMELY valuable for airlines. PWM doesn't have the demand to justify a Heathrow slot

If PWM ever does get scheduled transatlantic service, it will most likely be with either Breeze or Icelandair. There were rumblings a couple years ago about Icelandair operating a 2-3x weekly summer seasonal service to KEF with their 737-MAX similar to the service they offer to Halifax.

Breeze has also hinted at possible transatlantic service and could use PWM has a "mini-hub" for A220's flying to KEF, DUB, or one of London's secondary airports (Gatwick or Stansted probably) Although I personally think they'll start off using PVD as a transatlantic base first.

Ugh, as I suspected. A fella can dream though. I am surprised PWM hasn't landed a transatlantic flight yet tho. Even if it were twice a week or something.

They would need the full FIS facility to make that happen, and that's now on the back burner due to the pressure to expand the parking garage instead of building a new remote lot. The Jetport is officially international, but in practice that means that they have to bring Passport Control and Customs in from downtown to service those flights, which is really only practical for small craft in emergency situations.

No FIS facility at PWM is a deterrent and bringing in Customs agents from Commercial Street to clear aircraft is not feasible for any consistent transatlantic service. Occasional charter flights are the only "international" needs at the present time. You beat me by a minute Mark!

Do we have any predictions for 2026?
Breeze adds a couple of surprise routes???
JetBlue adds FLL seasonal, no other changes
United adds HOU seasonal daily vs just Saturday only, no other changes
Delta adds Salt Lake City seasonal 3X a week-Long shot, no other changes
American adds PHX seasonal 3x a week-long shot, MIA comeback?
SWA- MCO added seasonal, no other changes
Sun Country-No change
Garage gets approved by planning board, but neighborhood says garage is too big and blocks their view of Texas Instruments plant, sues and sets garage start date to 2027 with only 2 stories.. LOL
New Food choices come online in 2026
Passenger counts will increase slightly over 2025
FIS starts construction at end of 2026 funding becomes available.
