Portland International Jetport | PWM

Did Paradies win the bid?

Not sure but I just figured it was the first of many retail and restaurant makeovers that are on the horizon.

This is so nuts!! They really can't restore your stats, etc??
Irritates me every time I see this:

Thanks um1990 but on the scale of things that really matter in life my individual stats were not that important to me when my account mysteriously vanished along with a few other veteran contributors but the loss of my joined date was a little disheartening. :)

Looking ahead a few weeks, JetBlue's "spring break special" flights to FLL seem to be selling extremely well based on the available seat maps. This is on top of B6's PWM-MCO flights consistently selling out. Hopefully B6's leadership see's that there's clearly plenty of room to re-grow their presence at PWM.

B6 is one strange duck. Now with JetBlue and United working together, I predict at some point they will merge. United has expanded at PWM with SFO and LAX, and B6 with MCO(seasonal) and JFK, I would see FLL going year round as well as MCO. I would like to see the PQI stop in Portland and allow people to switch to a United flight or a B6 to MCO, FLL, or JFK., then continue to BOS, this could see less people head to Logan to Terminal C

I was putting a list together that shows the total destinations(routes) flown from PWM and was amazed at the number of destinations. Highlighted in yellow are destinations served by multiple airlines.

MEETING DATE

AGENDA ITEM
Agenda Item #3B - Portland International Jetport Surface Parking Project Appropriation
PURPOSE
Consider referral to the City Council a request to appropriate from the Jetport’s unrestricted fund
balance $1.5 million to commence design on the Phase 3 Parking Garage and $8.6 million to
commence construction on a revised smaller surface parking lot that is consistent with feedback
received from the community.
COMMITTEE WORK PLAN/CITY COUNCIL GOAL ALIGNMENT
While this item is not included in the committee’s work plan, the proposed expansion of parking
areas at the Jetport is a major project in support of the City’s overall transportation system.
BACKGROUND/ANALYSIS
This Jetport is a multi-modal transportation facility that served an all-time record 2.59 million
arriving and departing travelers in 2025. The Jetport is the state’s largest commercial service
airport by passenger volume and provides an important connection for the greater Portland
region and the State of Maine to the national air transportation system. The ability to connect air
travelers to all forms of ground transportation in a safe, convenient, efficient, and sustainable
manner is an important function of the Jetport. It is ideal for multimodal transportation facilities
such as the Jetport to provide onsite walkable distance parking adequate to meet demand and
reduce the need for shuttle operations. The proposed revised project as with all significant
infrastructure projects at the Jetport has been developed over many years and was included in the
prior two Jetport master plans issued in 2008 and 2018. Commercial service airports are required
by the FAA to prepare or update master plans roughly every 10 years to ensure safe, operationally
efficient facilities that meet FAA standards, and provide development guidance to meet forecast
demand.
The revised request proposes to commence design and planning now for the Phase 3 Parking
Garage. This project is shown in orange as Intermediate Term Development Project 10 in the
below Development Staging Plan from the Jetport’s 2018 Master Plan.

Ridiculous that the city has to spend $8.3M for surface parking lots but this may actually expedite the construction of the parking garage a little sooner than the previous timeline.

Remember, to build on the garage open lot, you must have a lot to accommodate the Lost parking during construction. When the garage will be finished, you will also have the additional lot as well. When the last phase of the garage is built, they will have the garage as well as the lot to accommodate construction. If they built this when they should, it would have been cheaper.

The best path forward in my opinion would be to complete Phase 4 of the garage expansion (blue # 23) at the same time as Phase 3 and be done with it. This would save millions in increased construction costs down the road especially knowing the garage will need to be enlarged once again to keep pace with PWM's projected growth.

That would be common sense...LOL

I created my first account on instagram called “the207update” bringing light to good, bad, and interesting updates around our state in terms of real estate development/preservation. The account blew up with support the last few weeks which has been cool.
That being said, I just posted an interesting video piggybacking off much that has been said in this forum so please check it out if you would like.
Crossing my fingers the Jetport can get some good news tonight.
