Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

I guess this is phase 1 - the renderings look like four floors but the site plan shows 33 units in a 3 story building.

The associated road changes pretty much made a mess out of Washington Ave. Extension, though, considering that the main reason that road was built was to be the truck route from Exit 53 (old Exit 10) to Riverside St. and Riverside Industrial Parkway.

Note that these aren't actual proposals but were commissioned to show what could be built on the site under existing zoning and approximated wetland limitations.
Top left has the better street grid than the rest. We should be trying to connect streets to make as many connections as possible. The 344 4 family units also adds the most units out of all.

Unfortunately, it looks like this "development" is going to be the absolute bare minimum. They're proposing to convert the current rehab building interior into apartments, and leave everything else the same, aside from adding a bike rack and some additional handicap spots.

Not really new construction but this thread was the best option without starting a new one. Franklin Towers was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2024 in order to help obtain grants and other funding mechanisms to totally renovate the building inside and out.

Is that Channel 8 News? The skyline background behind them is "squashed". I think they used that same image the Jetport has in baggage claim.
