On Mass Ave between MIT and Central
Has anyone stayed at a Raffles hotel? How does it compare to Four Seasons, Mandarin, Ritz etc? If price is comparable or higher as the Globe article suggests, will anyone pick Raffles over the Four Seasons or Mandarin? Locations are similar so that should not be a factor.
I've stayed at the Mandarin in Boston, Hong Kong, and Tokyo, and at Raffles in Singapore. The Mandarin in Boston is not on par with Tokyo's or HK's, and it's a whole tier below the Singapore Raffles. It was a disappointment. The Singapore Raffles maybe the best hotel experience I've ever had. The Grand Lobby is from 1887 and has atmosphere on top of atmosphere, probably not something you could replicate in Boston's Raffles.
Take this with a grain of salt; I've never stayed in any of the top-end suites at any of these places, which is where Mandarin Oriental supposedly shines.
Most expensive rooms in town, they say.
