Reshaping Portland's Franklin Street

I applaud the efforts of those involved in this movement. This street really is a point of disconnect in town. In my opinion it is not so because of the traffic, but because of the design. Here are some pictures of proposals stemming from the FRA's final report to the city on ideas the council can mix and match to establish a broad plan for redeveloping this gateway area.

basically the idea is to turn the street not back into what it was prior to urban renewal but into what it can become based on the vacant city land that is currently being inefficiently used, and based on the plans for redeveloping adjacent central bayside.

note the potential light rail and street car lanes for future investments in public transit
