Revere Infill and Small Developments

Question for people who know Revere better than me: Revere Beach Blvd between Revere St and Eliot Circle is an entirely redundant and unnecessary road with Ocean Ave right there parallel. Is there any serious effort underway to redesign it? It should, at the absolute bare minimum, have a generous two-way protected cycle track along the beach side. And ideally it would be pedestrianized (at least seasonally), with some beachfront retail, recreation, and hospitality replacing the largely useless green median.
