How much more appropriate would it be if this was a Sony building instead of State St.?
Great work north end nimbys + zoning
Not sure if it's zoning or just avarice. We'll find out at some point who this person is...
What is being built here?
This is going to be the ugliest building in the history of the world. They didn’t even spell the word “unit” correctly. Just gonna be a bunch of crap from Home Depot.
The murals are nice but during construction many people thought this vent was actually going to be the Garden Under Glass and they were very disappointed
The Massachusetts Horticultural Society couldn't find the money to build and operate the winter garden.
Guy from Mayor's office: So the Big Dig is almost done and there is a bunch of land left over. What do you intend to do with it?The Massachusetts Horticultural Society couldn't find the money to build and operate the winter garden.
$70 million way back when.

Commercial buildings should have been allowed on the museum sites, if the museums fell through (no pun intended).Guy from Mayor's office: So the Big Dig is almost done and there is a bunch of land left over. What do you intend to do with it?
Big Dig Big Wig: Well, we planned a bunch of gaping holes through the center of the city and we're limiting the eligible builders to public institutions, non-profits and the like... neat things like an modern art museum, the horticulture society, a YMCA, a city museum. Nice, right?
GFMO: So, your plan is to leave a bunch of odd sized parcels, uncovered, with the most difficult foundations on the East coast, with marginally tested weight limits, and a lot of oversight from state and federal agencies.
BDBW: That's right. We saved money by leaving it all open.
GFMO: ...And then you're going to make that bunch of non-profits try to pay for building above these massive holes, above moving traffic... all at once?
BDBW: Yes.
GFMO: ...then you're going to make them fundraise against each other -- all at the same time -- to get the projects started and if they get enough cash together they'll get theirs built?
BDBW: Yes. But get this... the land is FREE.
GFMO: Well why didn't you say so. I see no problem with this whatsoever.

Wonderful! I will fully endorse this hullaballoo!
It's pretty cool. I wish it could stay. There are many deserving walls

I think the YMCA was the biggest loss. It would have created an L Street bathhouse like facility in TownIt's a fun riff, either way...
The boat-shaped BOSTON MUSEUM and The Garden Under Glass would have been fine additions.
