Have 5 over 2's replaced 5 over 1's? Is that a thing now? I guess you could argue that 7 floors is 17% better than 6 floors!

FWIW as a comparison - Seattle has approved zoning and updated codes for 6 over 1s and 5 over 2s. They felt the construction techniques had improved and fire department could still aequately handle 7 floors in an emergency. Still hate them...

I don't like them either but 7 floors feels noticeably taller than 6. It's at least an obvious improvement, even if nowhere near optimal.
