A few things I found interesting
More than one pedestrian per week used to die in Boston
An expressway parallel to Mass ave was considered the best way to reduce accidents on that road.
Children used to go out in public alone frequently
An on-street parking ban between 4 and 6 PM was considered a viable law
At this point in time (1958) Massachusetts still did not have a uniform system of issuing traffic tickets-- and half of all tickets ended up being "fixed"
Breathalyzer tests were not still mandatory.
