Renovation and addition to Somerville's existing high school building originally built in 1895 and renovated in 1986. Plans call for renovations of 82,700 square feet of the existing building, partial demolition, and addition of nearly 322,000 square feet.
The new campus will provide a state-of-the-art, innovative, and nurturing learning environment for nearly 1,600 students. Construction will be completed in phases as classes will remain in session during the project.
while they're at it, hopefully they at least paint city hall, which looks shittier than the shack my building keeps its lawnmower in.This is big enough to get a thread of its own. Hopefully encourage people (me) to take more pics of the progress!
Here's the city's page on the project: http://go.somervillema.gov/highschool/

The low blue building is the block of temporary classrooms they added. Even with that they've had to move some things; my son gets bussed to another location for his last class of the day. Kind of impressive how they're pretty much rebuilding the whole school in place while it's in active use.
