So we all know that space savers are dumb. Well I have an idea. How about we keep the street sweeping hours through the winter, but instead of street sweeping the city could do something like this.

Too cost prohibitive? Would solve most of the space saver controversy.

I wish our cities kept up a continuous battle against the damn snowbanks, but it seems to only happen once there too much snow to park anywhere.

One of my favorite winter activities is to rearrange space savers. I think spot "ownership" is the problem. The intent of a space saver is to ensure that you have a spot to park because of the "effort" you went through to dig your car out. It doesn't have to be the same spot.

Somerville was doing precisely that on Lower Broadway today, and presumably other places.

My goal is to amass enough disposable income that I can rent a large truck, collect all the space savers, and dump them on the mayors driveway
