Next time you're in a bookstore, check out "Spectacular Buildings" by Simone Schleifer (copyright 2007) published by Evergreen. It's a pictorial collection with brief explanations of some of the newest trends in urban design worldwide and includes 3 area buildings, two in Cambridge and one in Boston. The Cambridge buildings (Stata Center and Genzyme) were not surprises to me but the Boston building (which I like very much but many of you I think will disagree) sure was! Whether or not you agree with the author's choices, you'll enjoy the "spectacular" photos of so many "spectacular" buildings! I have to say, I was very proud that three Boston/Cambridge buildings were showcased...and they looked "Spectacular!"

Boston Convention Center in South Boston. Was a very cool surprise to see it showcased like it was in this book.

I agree it's a beautiful entrance...but the big side looks like a big airport terminal. And it needs to add that spark to the area, like they said it would.

I'll hold judgment until the next phase of the project is complete
