Stadium & Riverwalk | Tidewater Landing | Pawtucket

Centreville Bank Stadium officially opened this past Saturday, May 3rd. An overflow crowd of 10,700 came out to see RIFC hold the Western Conference leading San Antonio FC to a scoreless draw. A flyover of helicopters started off the festivities under beautiful sunny skies. The weather turned with just minutes left in the game when a short rain downpour passed over. The rains came to an end in stoppage time with a rainbow appearing over the site. Parking was not as bad as many had feared. RIPTA provided free bus shuttles from the nearby satellite lots and many fans walked in a parade procession led by the fan drum corps (which the franchise hopes becomes a game tradition).

Further to improved access to the stadium, this older article concerns the awarding of a contract for the design of a pedestrian bridge over the Seekonk River at Tidewater Landing. This bridge will eventually be part of the Blackstone River Bikeway that will one day link India Point Park and the East Bay Bike Path in Providence to Worcester.
