This isn’t the location for such glaring mediocrity.
 
It seems like this would be a relatively easy facade to preserve, no? They can knock down everything but one two-story wall. Of all the facadectomies, it's seems like this would be one of the simplest.

You gotta love that they lead with "Hampton Inn Exterior Renovation Guide." And the Hotel Commonwealth expansion!

Educate yourself before making statements that discredit contributing architects to the City of Boston. Its a very small town! Group One was the design architect for the Envoy Hotel and the new Moxy Tower in the theater district. Both extremely successful projects! Stantec was the AOR. Now you are a bit more educated! Grow up.

Welcome, rff! Your opening post seems quite pointed. To be honest, I'm not seeing how JumboBuc's quoted post discredits architects or reveals a lack of maturity. Why are you charging in with a chip on your shoulder?

I think he assumed I’m an architect or an architectural student and it was some kind of threat to injure me or my career in some manner. Generally when people say things like that that’s what they mean.

Along with 350 Boylston and SST(as presently conceived) this was one of the projects I was most hopeful that the recession would put an end to so this is even better news.

I love the comment in the Hampton Inn article: I've been complaining for years that the Hampton rooms are too large. Finally, New Yorkers can feel more at home.
 
If this were a proposal for residences, or anything not a hotel really, I'd be okay with an aggressive demo. There's a lot of character balled up in that building, and the surrounding park. It's particularly unique being only 2 stories, so I'd argue against those claiming there's plenty of similar architecture around.

The work of Group One looks generic and developer grade. Sorry to disagree rff.

Someone needs to deck that triangle of highway with a park. This could be a great urban square. Forget Columbus Center and davem's grand plans, just do this part for starters.

Awful. Absolutely nothing on this street needs to be touched. Go find an empty lot somewhere, there's plenty of them.

This shitty rendering reminds me a little bit of 225 Franklin which is a building I like (and would be a nice reprieve from all blue glass everything). what I don't like is going Dr. Frankenstein on some very charming historic structures or the monolithic blank East (and presumably West) facing walls.
 
So long as they save the nice brick facades at the bottom, the actual tower can be as ugly as a donkey’s butt for all I care.
