I'm not sure if anyone here know about TED but you all need to know. TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is a conference that brings together great thinkers, designers, and entertainers. They record these talks and put the best ones up for free viewing. There are about 100 up now and some area really great. Here are ones that focus on architecture and urbanity:

- Stewart Brand: Why squatter cities are a good thing
- James Howard Kunstler: The tragedy of suburbia
- Thom Mayne: Architecture is a new way to connect to the world
- Alex Steffen: Inspired ideas for a sustainable future
- Robert Neuwirth: The "shadow cities" of the future
- Edward Burtynsky: TED Prize wish: Share the story of Earth's manufactured landscapes
- Cameron Sinclair: TED Prize wish: Open-source architecture to house the world
- Majora Carter: Greening the ghetto

There are a lot more videos and information on the site and I recommend checking it out.

Thanks for posting these Van.

I love how Kunstler tears our City Hall to shreds to the vigorous chuckles of his audience.

I love how he slips up and says "Albany" because of the Empire State Plaza.

Thanks for these Van -- I only got through Thom Mayne's presentation...I'll give the others a look as well...I'm not always convinced by Mayne's stuff (or fellow Angelino Eric Owen Moss) but I find their stuff infinitely more compelling than Gehry or Libeskind...
