Hard place to live without a car.

Lots of folks figure it out. Lots of these places being built still don't have full Lots of garages even with reductions. I personally know a few people who work and live in the city and just rely on buses and walking including someone I have starting work with me Monday

Site fencing is up and I see RIS doing some work in the future parking lot clearing the site

Final impressions before the demolition begins:

I really wish they were able to save some of these old industrial buildings as part of the project. I know a couple were far too gone, but 3 or 4 rows of mixed new and refurbed industrial buildings with the alleys in-between them would seem so much nicer than the large....blob they're plonking down in this project.

Very true. That back brick buildinf still had functioning business in it. But after all this wait I'm just glad something is being done with the lot

Me too, that kinda sucks. Buildings like that are not being built anymore, so each one thats torn down is gone forever.

The brick buildings on Arctic Steet will not be torn down. Yes the small parcels will narrow alleys would have provided an interesting urban fabric, but old industrial buildings don’t easily lend themselves to be converted into desirable one and two bedrooms. There have been other demolitions in this town that I’m still more upset about.

I'm not so sure about that. Look at the parking plan on the previous page - looks like everything is going to my eye.

You’re correct, looks like the original plans have been amended:

“The plans presented this week differ even further from when the project was originally submitted last February. The developer will demolish all the buildings on the block between Plastic and Arctic streets. The original plans called for the conversion of 33 and 45 Arctic St., brick warehouses that date to 1900, into residential buildings.“
