Starting next Thursday, March 3rd, MJ857 Real Estate Development II will be hosting a lecture series every Thursday at 4:30pm through April 14th. This week's speaker is Frank E. Ferruggia, Esq., Partner of McCarter & English and a lecturer at the Carroll Graduate School of Management. Mr. Ferruggia will be speaking about "The Collapse of the Peter Cooper Village/Stuyvesant Town Project in New York City." More information is included on the attached flyer.
Other speakers in the lecture series include William F. McCall, Jr., President of McCall and Almy, and David T. Welsh, Founding Managing Principal of Normandy Real Estate Partners. Information regarding these and other speakers will be sent out shortly.

The Collapse of the Peter Cooper Village/Stuyvesant Town Project in New York City.
The proposed development of Peter Cooper/Stuyvesant would have transformed rent controlled, middle class housing into market rate luxury apartments. Changes in the market, and an important legal decision threw the project off track. Lessons from a project that did not turn out as planned.

Mr. Ferruggia's practice is concentrated in litigation, property tax assessment appeals and redevelopment/eminent domain issues. He has considerable experience in litigating tax appeal cases that involve alleged diminution of value due to environmental regulations and contamination. Mr. Ferruggia has extensive experience representing owners of large, complex manufacturing facilities and has represented many owners of hotels before the Tax Court. His clients include financial institutions, insurance companies, real estate development corporations and owners of office buildings, manufacturing facilities, large residential/condo/co-op developments and hotels. Mr. Ferruggia is a graduate of Princeton's
Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and of the Harvard Law School.
