So, the most recent Boston Courant has an article about something I've never heard of (imagine that?).

I skimmed most of the article, but basically, the way I read it, in 1957 construction began on the Prudential building. Due to financing issues, it eventually stopped (sound familiar?). (Except the financing issues were because of the state, not the developer.)

While they all waited for things to sort themselves out, water accumulated into the big hole in the ground and, voila, Lake Prudential was created.

It remained a hole in the ground until 1962.

That's what I read, at least.
