But what bugs me is that this thread has 42,000 views and (I think) only 400 posts. Lots of people have been reading it (like me) without weighing in. "Ned" deserves the same respect any one of us anonymous posters deserve. Otherwise, the posts will be limited to people on one side of every issue. Which is pretty much where this one is today.

Let's either have the enforced standards of respect lowered for everybody, or nobody.

This thread is more or less a continuation of a very long discussion that started years ago in the Columbus Center thread.

If you want a nice headache read that mess from start to finish. Lines have been drawn, sides have chosen, battles have been fought (and re-fought, and re-fought...)

For what it's worth I'm posting here for informational purposes only. I gave up on both these threads a while ago. If you wish to keep your sanity you may want to follow suit.

That's what happened with me and the Columbus Center thread. It took a turn for the worst a couple years ago and evolved (devolved?) into something I could even bother to follow. It felt like the same thing being posted over and over again with neither side budging.

I sure as hell hope that doesn't happen with this project.

Re: Fenway Center (One Kenmore, Mass Turnpike PARCEL 7)

I just wonder if Ned has ulterior motives?
Sicilian, I agree that everyone deserves respect. However, Ned has used this argument for years and in multiple threads. It just get's tiring.
Pollution in a city, yadda-yadda-yadda. If you want fresh air, move to the country.

Re: Fenway Center (One Kenmore, Mass Turnpike PARCEL 7)

Ulterior motives? He's a self-serving bullshit artist and that's all there is to it. He doesn't even buy into his own science enough to move away from the very source of the pollution he rails against.

Re: Fenway Center (One Kenmore, Mass Turnpike PARCEL 7)

Iam NOT agreeing with this reasoninb. Same reason you speke of tells Marines or Decima X to retreat from landing zone because noughty Japanese or Brits shhotin the pesky bullits. Mr Ned F. is living strategic BEACHhEAD for storming commanding hights in WAR against Gassy shadows. So. SALUTE THE WARRior called Mr. Ned!!!

Re: Fenway Center (One Kenmore, Mass Turnpike PARCEL 7)

After lurking around all of the threads where Ned has appeared; I think I might have the answer to why he is the way he is. According to wikipedia:

Asperger syndrome...people with it show significant difficulties in social interaction, along with restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests.

A person may engage in a one-sided, long-winded speech about a favorite topic, while misunderstanding or not recognizing the listener's feelings or reactions...

People often display behavior, interests, and activities that are restricted and repetitive and are sometimes abnormally intense or focused
.

Anyway, Ned this is meant with no disrespect. I love the way you rile up the people on this message board. Keep it up.

You not likin me because you the SMARTR people. But how smart if you argument if just say MENTAL?

Re: Fenway Center (One Kenmore, Mass Turnpike PARCEL 7)

Here I was thinking that I was being original.

Bostonbread: Although your line of argument is way over the top, your right its not a nice thing to say. I understand that, I hesitated before posting it and I don't mean to disparage Ned's mental state. Ned my tongue is pressed firmly against my cheek. I could say the same thing about almost everyone on this message board. We love to rant and rave about the same things over and over and over again.

Whatever one feels about Ned and his posts, it takes two to tango.
I stopped reading his posts months ago.

Sounds like what at least half the population has.

Re: Fenway Center (One Kenmore, Mass Turnpike PARCEL 7)

Truth be told, everyone on this board has it by definition, having extreme interest in urban design or generally having any sort of deep, but narrow focus fits the bill. Only those who are shallow and merely follow "mainstream" trends and interests can be assured that they don't have it. I really don't like the habit of creating a new mental illness for anything that's slightly or potentially abnormal, just a way for the pharmaceutical industry/ psychologists and/or psychiatrists to make more money and to assure job security.

Fair enough, I just wanted to get the conversation out of the other thread.
