The Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home would be demolished and replaced with this condo/mixed-use development on the corner of Waterman and Wayland in Wayland Square.
note: the orientation of the floorplan does not match the rendering (rotated 90 degrees clockwise)

Disappointing that they caved to pressure and scaled back the project but nice to see more new housing in the area.

To the PPS’ concerns, I’m a supporter of facadectomies and it would be cool to see the existing structure incorporated into the new but that not happening with this particular structure doesn’t seem essential.

This follows the recent pattern in the Wayland Square area. Many of its older one time houses are being demolished and replaced with 3-4 story higher density buildings (most of which are apartments or condos). This neighborhood is losing its character with all the new taller and larger footprint buildings. It is taking on a mini city feel going from residential to urban. These same dynamics are at play in the nearby East Side Thayer Street corridor as well.
