Town planning officials and members of the ordinance review committee agreed on specifications such as the maximum size of an apartment, how many rooms were allowed and how it must be connected with the main home.
But they disagreed on who could live in the apartments. The town intended to create the language for people related to the main homeowners by “blood or marriage.” But town councilors wanted to expand that and allow homeowners the freedom to help a family friend or a loved one who doesn’t necessarily fall into that category.
That sounded too much like accessory dwelling units, which the town is “not interested in dealing with” because it could turn homes that are zoned single-family into two-family lots, said Robert Luongo, the town's planning director. The town does not currently allow accessory dwelling units.

WEYMOUTH − One person is in critical condition and four other injured after a single-family home under construction in Weymouth collapsed on them while they were working on the building around noon Tuesday, officials said.

While Murphy said the cause of the collapse is under investigation, both the owner of the RK Mart and a woman who lives on Broad Street that directly faces both the store and construction site said the wind was gusting hard around the time of the collapse.

WEYMOUTH – Following more than a year and a half of public deliberation, a developer has won approval to transform the shuttered Factory Paint and Decorating store into a new commercial project.
The Weymouth zoning board awarded special permits to FX/Harborlight, which plans to tear down the existing 41,000-square-foot building at 505 Pond St. and replace it with a 12,400-square-foot structure to house a Starbucks coffee shop, a Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant and three other tenants.
