What is this building?

Passing through Boston last week, I saw a large flat roofed building with a number of what looked like large, grey concrete "chimneys" with sharply beveled tops with translucent glazing. Can you identify the building and the purpose of the "chimneys"? Thanks.

This sounds like one of the ventilation buildings for the TWT.

What's this building? It's on State Street near the corner of Broad Street. It has a Century Bank on the first floor but the rest of it looks to be ventilation or something - it's been made to look as if it's a regular building but there aren't any windows on the upper floors.

Heya John, I believe that's the MBTA's Blue Line electrical substation and tunnel ventilation building, it was built about 5 years ago if memory serves...the Blue Line runs beneath State Street so the building sits just outside of the tunnel footprint. I forget who the architect is but not bad for an MBTA utility box, huh?
