No problem. I was actually able to find them pretty quickly. FWIW, they all make the current proposal look like an artless collection of massing models.

Hey hey this is within a few blocks of the Greenway. Can't have anything too iconic going up now can we? Can't distract from the patches of grass.

I wonder if there's any way to get the developer to add a headhouse for Haymarket on the opposite side of Congress St. It's kind of a bitch to cross that big ass road. Also, it would help mitigate any eventual Bowdoin closure and be just that much more convenient for Green Line/Orange Line riders in Beacon Hill.

Just because they released those renderings, does it mean that whole contest and all those other proposals are dead? Those were all pretty sweet and I would love to see the designs make it through. Was what was shown recently just massings?

Those previous designs were (for lack of better words) architectural masturbation. It's just another thing for those major firms to put on their websites and in their marketing material.

This is actually a serious proposal this time solely by CBT (not acting as Architect of Record for a Starchitect).

I just had to add that I am not the least bit upset with the CBT proposals compared to the fantasy proposals.

I actually think the CBT proposal is much better than the SOM proposal, which was lackluster at best. I think I may even favor it over the Foster design, which was disappointing given the quality usually associated with the name. The Cook + Fox design was amazing and the Gensler design was damn good too though.

Thanks for re-posting those older proposals. To be frank, all of them look like they've plopped towers onto a large superblock pedestal - I really don't know why they all went in that direction when the purpose was to remove an existing monolith.

Recognizing that these early renderings are nothing more than glossy PR, I like that the recent proposal really gets the need to obscure all traces of superblockishness from the end result.

It's superblocked because (if I recall correctly) they all maintained the western half of the parking garage within the new development.

Yes, that was part of the old design criteria.

I believe that the design criteria was to remove at least the eastern part of the garage and the portion over Congress Street, rather than to retain the western part of the garage. In addition, none of them retained the entire western part of the garage. In that respect the earlier proposals are similar to the current proposal which also retains a large portion of the western part of the garage containing 1,159 parking spaces.

Fine but those earlier proposals - again keeping in mind they werent actual plans - looked to keep the pedestal looking like a pedestal on all sides, it seems. In the current proposal there is variation, and the tower facades touch ground. I agree this current proposal doesn't eliminate the superblock but it does more to mask it than any of the earlier designs.

Thanks, Beton. I was a big fan of the Cox + Fox building. You know those green rooftops would have never made the cut. I feel like my building is the only one built in the last decade with legit living / grass lawn roofs. :p

Just announcing I will not be at this meeting. I don't feel well for some reason... up too early for that damn Copley Place meeting. -.-

I expect them to essentially just read their PNF anyway and explain the plans, which I've already read and interpreted (even posted on here).
