^Thats what waterside should have looked like. Its basically the same shitty windows and precast, but the double height windows and greater glass to cladding ratio helps a ton.

For whatever reason this project has been stalled at its current height for about a month now. They've made some progress with the cladding, but no steel has gone up in a while now. Maybe they're waiting on a delayed shipment or something?

I look at this from across the river a few times a week and steel has definitely been climbing, slowly but surely. I'm not sure what the rest of you are talking about. I think perhaps you were deceived a little because the core was still rising with it until very recently. Now it's only 4 floors left to cover the core, and every floor underneath is fully formed. It hasn't stalled at all.
For instance, check Brucepf's pictures from 7/30 (post 735). You can see there are at least 5 fully exposed core floors, plus the majority of a 6th where the steel just started. (and I'm unsure if the core is still growing there or not) Now it's at least 1.5 floors higher than it was then.

Next person to walk by needs to ask one of the guys *in the nicest way possible* why it's taking so long. There'll always be a few gruff too-busy-for-this-shit types who'll rebuff you, but for the most part I've found them dudes are more than happy to tell you exactly what's going on.

^Agreed. Additionally, if you stand around watching long enough, one of the guys might even come talk to you! That happened to me a few times with Liberty Mutual.

This photo really demonstrates how much the Avalon Exeter tower will lighten up the Back Bay skyline. Right now there's the 80's concrete hotel towers, the greyish Pru, and the bright blue 111 & Hancock. I think the white/yellow at this height will be wonderful. And the greenish-tinted windows will only help as well.

2 observations from today.
First, there was a ton of new steel added in the last few days. It is continuing to grow, although, contrary to popular belief, it never really stopped growing in the first place. It just seems to have picked up the pace a bit.

These pics are from my cell phone. It's getting close to topped out. You can see there are 2 setbacks near the top. This is probably what was taking so long, since transition floors tend to take a little longer to build due to the reconfiguration.

I'm surprised nobody else on this forum seems to care about our tallest tower in 3 years. It looks like it's just about topped out. Last few floors really flew up. Does anybody know how far the steel is expected to rise beyond the top of the core, if at all?

The double height windows really make this thing look small, I know that they do it as a trick for the eye to make it seem smaller than it is. It looks really good tho.

It's the first tower of our boom to actually eclipse 300'. It adds a bit of noticeable density, and provides housing without having removed a piece of Boston's history to get there. It helps distract the eye (slightly) from the trio of horrible looking red buildings next door. It's probably the most worthy new building around here to get photographed, (especially at its current point of construction) and seems to get the least attention.
Without the pictures, this forum is just a bunch of people arguing over their personal utopian pipe-dreams.
