There's a thought, plan the heist before the casino is even built.... Much more efficient to pre-build the escape tunnel to your getaway submarine.

I'm only a trained asbestos and hazmat worker... but if the contaminant is in the dust, I can imagine they have to keep the soil wet. If it's VOC contamination (likely), you're better off with it entering the atmosphere than seeping into your water supply.

Edit: after looking up what's in the soil, you are so much better off with that being hauled away, especially with the site being next to a damn river.

Something has just struck my curiosity when I saw this pic; Looking at this concrete truck beautifully decked out with the words Boston Strong has made me wonder.

In light of the Boston Marathon bombing which took place over 3 years ago, I wonder what measures will be put in place to stop it from ever happening here.

Since terrorists often choose large areas or buildings where large groups of people normally congregate, who is to say that it won't happen here, or whether a madman won't be thinking about picking the casino or hotel as his next place to rack up his victims, making them the subjects of his sick murder plan? :eek:

I don't think the Wynn casino is any more susceptible to terriorst attacks than office buildings, public transportation, and sporting events. What's the scariest is the possibility of a terrorist attack on the public transportation network, it has happened in other cities. Also it's prohibitively expensive to provide airport like security for public transportation networks.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of ways that one is more likely to die than in a terrorist attack.

Yeah, no one ever thought that 2 jumbo jetliners would ever be hijacked and flown into the World Trade Center in New York. but it happened.


These sick maggots have to be stopped. I plan to visit the casino when it is completed, as do others. The last thing that you'd want is to find out that a terrorist or a mad gunman had gotten into the casino to terrorize people and demand ransom money. :sad:

I mean that's a risk you have to take unless you want a government that monitors everyone's communication channels. Any location where a significant amount of people congregating are soft targets for attacks (sports venues, clubs, malls, schools, convention centers, churches, etc.)

Jahvon -- Terrorists traditionally go after what are commonly called "Soft Targets" -- e.g. large ad hoc or impromptu gatherings of people with minimal access controls -- e.g. the holiday party in San Bernardino, the crowd enjoying the fireworks on the shore in Nice, the people at the concert in Paris

Casinos by nature of their kind of activity [e.g. Money and ways to make and lose it in bunches] have lots of security systems and security people looking for the "Oceans 14" or just some minor criminal activity -- so except for maybe the lobby they aren't soft targets. Neither these day is the Marathon, or is the 4th of July on the Charles -- both come complete with heavy-duty security.

A much more likely target would be the crowd exiting through the Hub on Causeway after the Bean Pot in a couple of years.

On the other hand genuinely "Crazy People" and some of the more recent to the West "suicide-type" terrorists, will often pick a target for some other reason than its softness. Recent examples in the west include: malls, government buildings, trains, buses, or an airport where the security systems are considered relatively to very good -- but unfortunately only forensics -- since the crazies and suiciders are in general not deterrable, and system response-time is usually excessive for prevention.

Any idea on how much space in terms of square footage that the retail corridor of this property will offer? Any ideas or rumors of what retailers will open locations in the retail area?

We already know some of the restaurants as discussed several pages back. I expect a few dozen high end stores and 3-4 entertainment venues of varying sizes as well. Plus there will certainly be an ultra high end spa.

If terrorist's struck this area with 2 airliners filled with gas they would blow up half the east coast.
Wynn is next door to the energy grid that runs the city along with all the Airline tankers holding all the fuel.

Real Estate values would finally plummet.
