Northeastern University - Institutional Master Plan

The arc will definitely be a great addition, but it's sad that it was scaled back so much.

Anyone know if the lobby of the science center is open to the public?

^I didnt even realize this had been approved. I thought Tito Jackson was gonna try to sink this.

^good. All for more student housing, even if the building is boring old elkus manfredi. I'd like to see some private/noninstituional redevelopment of the adjacent area, though- it could eventually be a great and thriving district if they could redevelop the nearby projects and add more retail. The Tremont Crossing project should breathe some life into the area as well.

A belief that when students move off campus, a dorm on the edge of campus will result in them moving into the nearby community and cause gentrification.

(Linked to page 2 of the article because that's where Tito's comment is, but be aware there's a page 1 if you want to read the whole piece).

Wow, so DON'T provide student housing, because the students with no dorm rooms would never think to rent up the housing in the neighborhood that is directly adjacent to campus, since there is no room for them on campus?

Tito's just looking for any excuse to feud with the establishment to give him a higher profile. Just look at his insane opposition to BU's BSL 4 lab.

I was against this too. It's the people like you, who pushed to have it built in one of the densest population centers in the country, who were/are insane. If ANYTHING goes wrong, anything at all, there is pretty much zero possibility of containment.

That is probably the one thing him and I could agree on.

I think opposing a Biosafety level 4 lab and opposing a student dorm at a University are not quite in the same ballpark...
