Quaker Lane + Congress Square | Downtown

I didn't realize that they were hollowing out the building to install a modern core.

Is that the building getting the jewel box on top?

I would assume with a major renovation like the jewel box addition, that triggers bringing the building up to current code across the board. Modern core probably is also required to bring the elevators up into the jewel box (it is 7 more floors I believe).

Ugh I knew I should have posted faster! I feel like I am always racing against you with this stuff. I took the same pictures yesterday of the crane from the river.

We could star in our own tv show, David vs. David. Touché, Mr. Couhig.

Did not mean to steal your thunder. Just trying to catch up because of my recent holiday.

Dualing with cameras is such great fun.

Were you in the boat with the black sails? If, so I'm impressed. Do you keep your camera in a zip lock bag or is it water resistent. You are brave which ever the case!!

Ohhhh, no, I wasn't actually in a boat at all. Mainly had my 30x zoom going from the BU Bridge and it picked up the crane nicely. Don't worry, while only one person can claim the thunder, there are plenty of claims to be had! If you have recent, long-range pics from Nut Island I am sunk.

The islands what a great idea. Bucket list for this summer. Tall Ships and harbor cruises "Life is Good!". I always enjoy your photos.

I always enjoy your photos.

Thanks I feel the same way, even when you are beating me to the punch. Our pics often look very similar too. Do you also use a Canon? Actually just answered my own question by checking your flickr. We both use a form of the Powershot. Great minds think alike!

Regarding Nut Island, it's similar to Deer Island in that it's not really an island at all! (maybe it used to be?) It also smells slightly rank, but only about 1/10 as bad as Deer Island. It's actually a really cool spot. The very end of it is called Houghs Neck.

The rest of us on here are the true winners of the pic competition between you too! I, for one, am very appreciative. Thanks!

Those two buildings in front there are so nice...

Agreed. They've always been two of my favorite buildings in the city. I love that the alleyway is going to be activated very soon.

Sorry for the iffy quality, but the elevator core is rising fast! From today:
