DZ love the texture you got. My shots seem so flat in comparison. Thanks for sharing

I'm not a fan of the Citgo sign, but that is worse.

Before messing with the image I thought it could be an acceptable replacement/compromise, but after seeing it I agree that having a sign that size with a Sox logo would be ridiculous, which at least to me draws attention to the absurdity of having a sign that size with the Citgo logo. I think this is a case of "it's always been there and I'm used to it."

I remember moving the Boston and having the sign explained to me and then later explaining it to people on their first visits. I'd wager a number of people here can recall similar experiences. It borders on collective insanity, but I guess that's not much different than shared nostalgia.

If it were up to me I'd just take the thing down. Either that or treat it like the Greenway murals.

I know we've discussed this many times and this isn't the right thread for it. Sorry to derail. Feel free to move the post or delete it.

Timing is everything BeeLine! We use essentially the same camera so if we were side by side taking pics at the same time and place they would come out extremely similar. In fact, when I scroll through this thread I often have to double check if the pics were mine or yours! I probably took that particular pic around 7:00 pm. The colors show best from the West later in the day, and from the East in the morning.

By the way, I appreciate your constant updates, particularly of the projects nobody else seems to bother with! From Mount Auburn the other day I counted 15 cranes but you're the only poster who would actually get up close for every one of those projects. Keep up the good work! (not really work, more like play for me, at least TAKING the pics sure is, and I hope the rest of you who post them feel the same way)

take it down and be more open to lighted signage and people would forget it in no time. it sticks out and is known so well not just b/c it's been around so long but b/c boston is so frickin dark and this is one rare, large example of "light." im currently in nashville and, while broadway may be an extreme contrast, it certainly serves as a reminder that boston is -- whether we're talking neon/lighted signs, lit crowns, or anything else -- an absurdly dark/gloomy city. for an area with so many younger folks it really shouldn't be that way.

Fare enough. Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.

I think you just made me blush and at my age it's a rush. No problem, I have my cardiologist on speed dial.

Sort of reminds me of how the Pru looked when it was going up!

I think this view is essentially equidistant from both towers, yes?

Should be pretty close. It has suddenly dawned on me, doesn't this have a second truss belt at the top? Remember how long that first one took? If this is indeed the case, it might be a couple more months before we see the steel for the crown.
