I've been waiting for the glass to go in to decide if I liked this, and I actually do! I think it's one of the few successful 'random' window patterns that we've seen. The white panels have a nice subtle texture to them as well. Ground floor looks atrocious so far; although the section with the pillar/overhang area looks ok so far. The side facing the tracks is obviously much worse, and so judging it on the side facing the street I think this is actually a nice addition.
Also the turd of this picture is at the top right not the center.
I know Im in the minority but I like this building. Its a squat tower in a squat area so that part is nbd. In a sea of glass or white precast I like the vertical lines, you dont see vertical lines anymore or thin windows. It also has more weight to it like old stone buildings did which is missing a lot these days. Its not my favorite tower but I like it. When I think of ugly I think of 1 Marina park dr.
I think the central building is awesome, actually. But the massing and location situation is completely different. The building in question is squat and not crowded amongst other, taller buildings... it dominates an area that will have multiple greenspaces, and sucks the life out of everything around it. I actually feel viscerally suffocated and oppressed just looking at the thing.
