The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Per the Webcam, steel is being staged on the top of the office podium. Nothing vertical yet, but it appears imminent

Awesome! This is going to have a huge impact. I can see the gov ctr res is 5 floors above the garage now too, seems to be picking up steam. Had to drop someone off at the airport monday and seeing the res topped out with NST really extends the skyline now and with much more mass than when it was just NST. Gov ctr is really going to tie it all in.

I hadn't realized the tower would overhang the podium- will do an even better job boxing in the street

Figure just about the time this is kinda weird box (that i hate less these days) is cladded,

we'll begin to see 115 Winthrop begin its historic rise?

I was surprised when I saw 3 beams are up for the tower. Not sure if it happened today but caught me by surprise. Definitely great news that this is u/c.

Although it has colossal order windows, the way they still emphasize each floor with the darker lines, especially on the front and back, makes this work. Its actually coming out pretty nice and the thin sides look reallly good. They really saved this tower by adding the grey lines between the white ones to outline each floor, instead of trying to hide the floors and make them look double height. How thin the front and back are also really emphasizes the height vs trying to hide it. Its coming out as a nice addition. I really do like how its height is emphasized on its thin sides. Even on its big sides the balconies and darker lines still show its true height, so nothing is being hidden by the colossal order and it really ends up working. Other devs need to take notes to subtly show the true height, even with colossal order. It really takes the illusion away, and just makes colossal order become a nice pattern. Thumbs up.

what on earth is going on with this project that's making it so prone to fires?

seriously -- another one and potential tenants will start wondering (if they aren't already), "do i really want to live in the 'frequently-on-fire tower' when it's finished?"

Its usually welders, which you dont have to worry about when occupied.

I believe the other fire was the bullfinch tower...but yes also curious what caused it.

That last photo with the O'Neill and the Longfellow Tower juxtaposed against the new Hub on Causeway really shows how the quality of architecture has come a long way since the 80's.

^^^ I didn't know this site existed.

And Halftime Pizza needs a new storefront, not something that is defensively responding to a hulking elevated structure.

why on earth would they do that?

aside from preferring the original facade so much more (who wouldn't), i seriously don't get what the upside was for the developer or owner to cover the previous exterior. like, what's the possible point?
