^ Me too! That was absolutely a background thought I had while taking those.

we're all gonna miss it. The top 60 feet of the tower is going to be very dark. And who decided all roof-lines would be totally opaque after dark in Boston.

All 3 sides should have a lit tree logo right above the column of balconies.

It is a residential so at night the rooms will be lit up at least. The Pru has the lit top and this will have lit windows after dark when people are home, so not too bad. Definitely would have been great with a lit crown or those cuts in the facade though.

We need more lit crowns in this city but Winthrop ctr will add one to the highest peak downtown, the hub office tower has a lit crown as well so a couple are on the way at least. The Pru and Winthrop ctr are the 2 most important so luckily those will be lit at a bare minimum.

"important" how? i'm guessing you mean strictly in terms of lit-up crowns? b/c winthrop is a "meh" design, at best, and the pru is notoriously ugly. JHT is more architecturally significant, by FAR, than either and there are at least four other skyscrapers that are more aesthetically pleasing.

i'd really like to see some very soft lights for the tops of these towers, to affect a smidgen of visibility.... nothing obnoxious–but allow the architectural tops to be perceptible.

the four seasons tree logo that will be on each side of 1 dalton (lit up at night) doesn't achieve exactly that?

Whats up with the antenna on 1 Dalton? Was this just a rumor? Or are we going to wake up the day before the crane comes down to a new spire? Its either happening soon or its not happening.

It's a rumor that started because someone looked at the FAA filing for the project and it has a permanent antenna height structure in the filing... this could be several things:

1. Filed prematurely (as in we might do this someday, so we want to permit for it now).
2. Filed mistakenly (as in, it was the crane height and someone goofed)
3. Filed correctly but weirdly (perhaps if a structure is going to be up long enough it needs to be marked "permanent" regardless of whether it's actually temporary... that crane has been up near the top for quite a while so it's possible)

There's been zero confirmation of an antenna. It was not put through the BPDA process with an antenna. My opinion is there is no antenna and a few of our height crazy fetishes vastly over analyzed the filing.

Great, thank you. This facade is too clean and purposeful to be ruined by an antenna thrown on top. That would clash with the design. Thanks for finally putting this to rest.

humongous, conspicuous, leaning toward insanely fat, off-centered antenna pushing well past 900'.... possibly getting a bit of color at night to pay homage..... oh, can you imagine! rather than self-incriminate, i eagerly join you w/ the hating!
