75 Morrissey Boulevard | Dorchester

Any project on Morrissey Blvd. should require protected bike lanes. Otherwise, build it!
For real. I was just looking recently and one section of it has 13 car lanes....

It would be great if it was a two-lane bike lane on the side of Morrissey closest to the train tracks so that there was better connection from this side of JFK to Savin Hill.

Morrissey redesign is part of a much larger ongoing MassDOT/DCR/BTD redesign.

Are there any documents showing whats going to be done? Ppl on here have drawn up a million different versions of ways to get rid of the rotary and clean up the roads here, Id love to see what some official proposals look like.

It would be interesting to see if it would be possible to eliminate the exit onto Columbia road from 93. Northbound from 93 could be handled by the existing exit onto Morrissey by the gas tank. Getting onto 93 south could be handled by the onramp at Freeport street. Maybe make some modifications to allow for safer and smoother merging onto both the onramp and 93 itself with proper acceleration lanes added. Create a new offramp 93 south where the emergency pullout is and have it run to 170 Freeport street is. That area is sandwiched between the red line tracks, and some industrial buildings.

Widen the space between the northbound and southbound lanes on Morrissey to allow for some protected bike lanes from exit 13B through the existing rotary.
