Skylines and Developments of the US/World

The shapes and overall look are brutalist ^, though obviously not the materials. Should have been built out of concrete. It's a tall version of

Bangkok did it a year earlier than the one in NYC. This one is 1050 ft
I kinda like it, and even though it does look like termite damage it is nonetheless pretty cool looking and visually interesting.

The top box looks too precarious in the last picture. Given that it's Miami, I also don't have high hopes on the execution. With the way the renders are shown, it makes me think it might be similar to Austin's, which is passable at twilight but staggeringly terrible in the light of day.

It's vibe is a bit like the Pru tower with the skywalk in the middle.

Nice video on Toronto's changing skyline and future developments

I'm hoping that this densification strategy will take hold in LA as well. There's been a lot of proposed high rises and skyscrapers in the pipeline here but at a rate far below Toronto

Just found Toronto's architectural forum (sister forum? Believe Archboston is owned by the same owners as theirs) and their top 10 tallest proposals are all above 750 ft

And their 14 tallest proposal:

Not all the designs are great but it's definitely an exciting time in Toronto. I haven't been there since 2018 and if all of these projects are built, the skyline would look dramatically different from just 5 years ago

^^^Oh yeah, but can they blow the most prime parcel in their entire city, adjacent to the largest transportation hub in all of Ontario, on a 190' lab? Amateurs!

Looks like Omaha is getting the OKC treatment when they got devon energy tower.

Nice! I never lived in Omaha, but I grew up in Nebraska. I wonder how this impacts Mutual of Omaha's current headquarters? It is located in midtown Omaha and had an interesting glass dome.

Austin is a low density sprawl fest. If someone thinks this makes any sense, then please help me understand. Thanks.

The core of Austin is very high desirability and very walkable. Between the River and Statehouse are some of my favorite blocks of any American city.

I don't think this is all that crazy.

Uh because there's demand for luxury high rise condos in a city that has been a rising tech hub and attracting talents from major cities along the east coast and silicon valley for the past decade? What kind of snarky question is this?

Yes, there are some blocks downtown but walk a few blocks in any direction and it's parking lots and single story buildings. Wouldn't you prefer urban fabric over a supertall tower surrounded by suburbia? You seem to be more on the urbanist team vs the skyscraper gawkers. So to rephrase my honest question: I still don't get why the market in Austin is generating demand for skyscrapers that are far taller than those in cities that have a lot more people. It attracts talent? Apparently, if the units sell, and I'm not doubting they will. And please don't project your own snark.
