I think it's funny or ironic here that the building that appears to stand out the most is the Holiday Inn. Maybe it's pulling from some of that scenic whitecap vibe?
 
Honestly, I never had an issue with the white Holiday Inn. It broke up the depressing earth tones.

What a beautiful skyline with a lot of room to grow despite what the NIMBYs may be scared of! (30 story buildings😂)

Two recent photos (Google Earth) of Manchester and Portland from 1500 ft showing the downtown cores from similar angles. Manchester does have a couple of taller buildings but Portland has many more and appears to be at a higher level of density even after trimming out a large portion of the Old Port for fairness.
