New from DOGE...

The GSA recently created a list of non-core federal buildings that may be up for sale or "disposal" as they call it. While I think this whole process is a braindead set of moves from narcissists subverting basic congressional and federal authority...I do hate the JFK Federal Building and would love to see it replaced, perhaps with the workers relocated into some of the abundant vacant buildings elsewhere in the city.

Note the Tip O'Neill building is also slated for disposal.

Good idea? Bad idea? Ham-fisted ketamine-induced fever dream that will be reversed in a matter of days? Efficiency!!!

Nothing will happen. The list includes the Volpe Center in Cambridge. Federal courthouses, regional IRS service centers.
 
It's a brilliant business idea, really: secure a huge windfall for America by attempting to sell a bunch of dated 70's-80's vintage office buildings during the worst office real estate downturn in the history of the country

Well, there's your answer - the list is gone now: https://www.gsa.gov/real-estate/real-estate-services/real-property-disposition/noncore-property-list . Supposedly, the HQs for FBI, DOJ, etc. were on the list, which I think says the most.
 
Since predictions are fun:
When dramatic photos soon appear of the old Cambridge Volpe tower being demolished, DOGE's gen-ai will grab them and create a success story announcement of government property being "disposed of" efficiently.
 
This was like the DOGE claim that about 150-year-olds still receiving Social Security checks, repeated by POTUS.

From the WSJ:
To cheers and laughter from Republicans, President Trump rattled off statistics about how many people over age 100 are in the Social Security database, saying, “money is being paid to many of them.” But those claims have already been largely debunked.

A 2023 inspector general report found that 18.9 million people born in 1920 or before were in the system but very few were actually receiving benefits.
