I keep thinking about how there are about 5 acres of completely open developable land on Kneeland Street and absolutely no plans to do anything with them.
A few years ago there was a thread on here showcasing conceptual plans the city had for infilling and developing air rights over the entire Mass Pike/I-93 interchange area.

It was worth the wait!
Tufts set-up the Tufts University Development Corp and partnered with Hines in the 1980s to do this project. Hell, this thread will be 19 years old next week and it's a continuation of a prior thread from the old platform. Which is to say, calling this worth the wait is high praise indeed! I'm inclined to agree.

Anyone remember how old the prior platform thread was?

So this thread has been ongoing since the 90s?
I'd say early, early 2000's at least. This thread was started two days after this forum made the move to the new platform in May, 2006, and it was a re-boot of a thread that had been going on for a looong time, though I can't speak to anything before about 2001 which is about when I started reading ArchBoston (if my hazy memory serves). The first post in this thread begins with "Much more optimistic title than 'South Station Tower - Dead Forever??'" which I think was the old thread title and indicates that we'd been talking about this floundering for years since before 2006.

Does anyone know recall when ArchBoston was created?

I miss Ablarc.

AB was created around March 2005. Before that Boston's Skyscraper Guy forum was the site for discussing Boston architecture and development. Here's the thread as it existed in early 2003, or rather one of many threads since back then people started new threads every time they had photos or questions. It was the early internet, after all.

I saved this off of archive.org months ago and can't find a working link to this exact page, but here's a link to the main forum. Be warned it's very disjointed, most pics are missing, and at least half the links don't work. It's kinda like sifting through the rubble of a post-apocalyptic city.... there are some gems here and there but most of it is hot garbage: https://web.archive.org/web/20031024114656fw_/http://skyscraperguy.com/skyscraperguyframe.htm

^oh wow, I forgot all about Skyscraper Guy, but I had hard flashback see those photos in the site header. Thanks for the reminder.

Skyscraperguy started that forum in June 2001. Then he disappeared and we got bombarded with adds so this forum was created in 2005.
