A few years ago there was a thread on here showcasing conceptual plans the city had for infilling and developing air rights over the entire Mass Pike/I-93 interchange area.I keep thinking about how there are about 5 acres of completely open developable land on Kneeland Street and absolutely no plans to do anything with them.
I've always loved the design of 125 Summer across the street: varied, older facades fronting the street with the tower rising behind them. It makes the street feel much more inviting. They really gotta tear down the Fiduciary Trust Building and replace it with something decent.
Tufts set-up the Tufts University Development Corp and partnered with Hines in the 1980s to do this project. Hell, this thread will be 19 years old next week and it's a continuation of a prior thread from the old platform. Which is to say, calling this worth the wait is high praise indeed! I'm inclined to agree. It was worth the wait!

From the 90s early 2000s. I believe initial redevelopment plans originated in the 1960s.Anyone remember how old the prior platform thread was?
I'd say early, early 2000's at least. This thread was started two days after this forum made the move to the new platform in May, 2006, and it was a re-boot of a thread that had been going on for a looong time, though I can't speak to anything before about 2001 which is about when I started reading ArchBoston (if my hazy memory serves). The first post in this thread begins with "Much more optimistic title than 'South Station Tower - Dead Forever??'" which I think was the old thread title and indicates that we'd been talking about this floundering for years since before 2006.So this thread has been ongoing since the 90s?
