Revere breaks ground on largest public school project in Massachusetts

REVERE, Mass. —

Revere has begun construction on its new high school, the largest public school project in Massachusetts, located on the former Wonderland Greyhound Park site.

....

The new building will hold more than 2,400 students, an effort to relieve citywide overcrowding. It will also be environmentally state-of-the-art, featuring geothermal heating and cooling, a micro-forest and 12.8 acres of public open space.

"We're in the middle of wetlands and we want to make sure that we replicate that and we bring the wildlife back to the area," Keefe said.

The project will cost about $493 million, with the Massachusetts School Building Authority helping to support almost half of that cost.

....

Construction will begin immediately, and the project is on track to be completed in three years.

Personally, I think the location is less than ideal. A better option would have been to build it near the site of the current high school. The current location is in the middle of the city making it within walking distance for many students. Now with the new location, it's no longer within walking distance of a good chunk of the city. Not to mention that area isn't very pedestrian friendly. Traffic in Revere in the morning is already a nightmare. It will only get worse with parents driving their kids to the new school.
Now I can already anticipate the upcoming responses, "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT. DON'T YOU KNOW THERE ARE MBTA BUSES THAT GO TO WONDERLAND STATION ACROSS THE STREET!" Great, that means the buses will be more packed than they already are, and the buses are still going to be stuck in traffic.

The ones specific side that is facing the street actually doesnt look AS bad as these checkerboard nightmares usually look. All of the rest of the sides of it look pretty bad but that one face isnt completely horrendous. If something gets built to its left where that small building is blocking the side itll actually be ok.

Not great, but its not street wall destroying like some of the others.

110 Ocean Ave.Update

The Neighborhood Developers Close on Revere Beach Development Site

“The Neighborhood Developers has acquired 110 Ocean Avenue in Revere for $2,160,000 and closed on a group of mortgages totaling over 13M+. Plans for the site call for a new 7-story building to incorporate 8 Group Living units, commercial space for NSCS to provide supportive services and classes for community members, 12 one-bedroom apartments set-aside for residents eligible for services through NSCS, and 36 two and three-bedroom apartments for families.”

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but are there any plans for the MBTA to extend service on Revere Beach Boulevard to the area around Moderna? Currently anyone wanting to go from there to Wonderland has to make a 17-minute walk to North Shore Rd, then wait for one of the buses headed south. BEX along the RB ROW seems impossible on even a hypothetical basis given all of the physical barriers along that path now, so buses seem to be the only option here.
