Vega (MXD Residential ) | 121 Broadway | Kendall Square

I walked by this the other night. It's amazing to think that 10-15 years ago the current structure would already be dominating its immediate area, but today it still all-but disappears until you're right on top of it. The new MXD Commercial building is such a hulking giant that this is fairly well hidden between that and Akamai. Cambridge already feels like a bigger city with just the MXD Commercial and 585 Kendall buildings. Once this is topped off it's going to take a major leap forward.

As of 7/19/25.

Cambridge is finally going to have a “proper” skyline once this thing is completed, compared to now where its more like a tech campus or satellite neighborhood like the seaport. Should hopefully look like a proper downtown across the river.

Cambridge has a pretty decently impressive skyline already - especially for a city of its size. But to really go next level, they'd need 3-4 five hundred footers.

Yea I think itll depend on how visible it is from across the charles. This and the taller residential at R3 at Volpe are really going to move the skyline from a seaport equivalent type of satellite tech campus skyline, to more of a skyline that stands on its own imo. Not only from a height perspective but also with how much denser its going to be at ground level as well once volpe is filled in.

I am probably just a design caveman, but while the materials all look high-quality, the terracotta vertical strip seems really at odds/clashes with the glass and metal strip. Can someone explain it to me like I am 5 years old?
