New England Revolution Stadium | 173 Alford Street | Boston-Everett

I think the stadium concept and location is great, but the render of the stadium looks 1980-ish. I'm guessing this is just a placeholder at this point, and the future renders will look better.
I would really like to see something that incorporates the facade of the power station. I've argued before that the tallest smoke stack would be cool to preserve, too, but I guess it's kind of in the way of the stadium footprint. But the river facing wall of the building should be compatible with a stadium.

This drives me out of my mind, this is never gonna happen so why are all parties wasting time & energy on this? This waterfront parcel should be open park space with the industrial complex converted and renewed like the Domino Refinery building in NY. However, there is a perfect parcel of land with the big box stores behind Encore where a stadium could go with a direct future CR stop - why arent they pursuing that site?! Sigh...

Why won't it happen? Everett is pretty aggressive about getting development done, so I think it has a fighting chance.

Everett may be (under the current mayor who is buried in scandal and probably won't be around much longer), but the track record for Boston and Kraft isn't great.

City Mayors for Citizens was created to “identify solutions to potential impacts” of the proposed 25,000 seat stadium, including anticipated traffic congestion, infrastructure issues, public transit concerns, and “overall quality of life,” according to a statement issued Wednesday.
The statement said the coalition was needed after previous requests for information “have gone unanswered.”
The coalition sent a letter to team leadership Monday saying it wants to be included in discussions about the venue.
“A project of this size and scale will have significant regional impacts,” Revere Mayor Patrick M. Keefe Jr. said in the statement. “We want to ensure that a stadium is contributing positively to the communities it is drawing resources from.”
“Our residents should not bear the burdens of a private stadium that has strong potential to negatively affect their day-to-day lives,” Keefe said. “We expect a seat at the table for all four communities as the New England Revolution considers mitigation strategies.”

It’s better now that Josh Kraft ran a campaign essentially designed so that Wu could be re-elected unopposed.

No it isn't better, daddy Kraft low balled her

You are assuming that this is a priority for the mayor and she has the power to block it. It’ll go through arbitration and we’ll get 5 extra soccer balls to go with the $500k offered. She’s doesnt care, she just wants her own stadium renovation to fly under the radar when it ends up costing more than Gillette Stadium.

Just read the mitigations from the casino for a good laugh about redoing Rutherford and Sullivan, the BWS facility being turned into a park, and all the money that I’ve never heard a peep about. Boston mayors do not care about Charlestown. Never have and never will.

I only assume that she is not suddenly happy with daddy Kraft or his friends

I think she’s happy with him. He didn’t have Josh run that campaign to become mayor. He ran that campaign to keep her mayor.

I am sure that she is happy that the Boston Legacy get to play this year in Kraft's stadium. That did her, the team, and White Stadium a big favor. They were able to secure financing and put $100M in escrow for stadium construction. If the team were to back out now the city could build a great high school stadium; opponents have drafted alternative plans that would cost half that

Real question - would the city of Boston legally be able to shut down Alford Street if it wanted?

Haha I told my buddy who works for the city to just demo the bridge. Problem solved.

MassDOT owns the bridge (as they do almost every bridge in the state), so no.

Expand the Ryan playground right before the bridge then and make it a pedestrian access only bridge. No need to build one.

Mayor DeMaria: ‘I Don’t Know Why Boston Has A Say?’

Summary: Mayor Carlo DeMaria sat down with NBC 10 and basically told off the NIMBYS but did it in a way that made him sound more confrontational than necessary.

Boston does have a say as it is an abutting municipality and the largest municipality in the Commonwealth. This has been beaten to death with a stick. If the Krafts can’t point up for the costs of multimodal transit upgrades (e.g. Sullivan Square expansion, SLX, footbridge, OLX) then he shouldn’t build there. To be quite honest, I’m sick of the Krafts and their lack of character.as human beings. Ideally I’d like for them to sell the team and then the new owners build at Union Point in Weymouth (better traffic flow, possibility for RLX.)

But whatever, the Krafts have ruined a thing that should be pretty cool.

wut

This is the best spot for the Revs. And frankly the options there for development aren't great. If other towns wanting their palms greased is going to kill the deal, so be it.
Like I said. There are many factors at play here. Traffic volume, transit, et al. Everett might be fine for what it is, but Suffolk Downs was an option that had legs and with some minor Route 1A widening and other area transportation upgrades, could’ve been a viable option. Alas that ship and sailed.

If Bob Kraft wants to pick that location, it’s fine but he needs to pony up the money for upgrades. It doesn’t seem like will but that’s what needs to happen in order for this to work.

Kraft can apply the money he'll obtain in lawsuits after Trump pulls the '26 WC matches from Gillette.
