JetBlue is making its service to Amsterdam season, which means it will be suspended from October 24 through March 26. Something tells me this does not return at all.
JetBlue is ending is service to Daytona Beach as they are exiting that station completely.

Hainan is going to continue operating its 3 weekly service from Beijing non-stop in both directions into the fall. They recently removed the Brussels tech stop on the Boston to Beijing leg.

I can say that I flew BOS-AMS on KLM in late January, and the load factors were pretty terrible.

As in, I got the economy version of first-class in both directions....the entire row to myself to stretch out and sleep on. And so did many of the other people in economy.

So I can see why there might be some cutbacks if that's the norm in that time of the year.

Going to be quite sad if it doesn't return, they're easily the most comfortable airline on the route (at least, for economy)

Boston-India= 281,000 passengers last year
My understanding is that India is just really hard for airlines to make money in - for such a populous country, it just doesn't drive that much air traffic, especially the premium traffic that drives long haul revenue. Even AI dropped IAD and ORD not too long ago, cut SFO frequencies, as despite still being able to fly transrussia they cited fuel costs being apparently too high. That likely wasn't a great sign of their margins. That said, AI did buy a lot of new widebodies - they'll need to be deployed eventually. I'm just not sure long and thin to the US is their way forward.

Frankly... They cite 5.7M total RTs? There's simply not that many seats on directs US-India flights. I'm curious how much of the gulf carriers business in the US is the one-stop, since many of those destination pairs cited would require at least one connection, either in the US or India itself - I'm fairly certain a plurality of the major gulf carriers serve most of the larger O&D cities on that chart.

I don't know if I'm reading it wrong, but it looks like Mumbai is the largest market to BOS with 74,418 rt passengers annually. That breaks down to 204 passengers per day, 102 each way. Seating capacity is 255-260 on AI's 787s. Maybe I'm missing something in the data, but that doesn't seem like nearly enough to justify even a handful of weekly flights. The totals for all of India don't seem to matter as much because there are plenty of connecting options, particularly via the Gulf carriers. So if the O&D numbers between Boston and any particular India market aren't strong, it's hard to see it happening.

Yeah, Air India has, between A359/A35K/779, something like 45-50 planes coming into their fleet. This is addition to a sizable B788/B789/B77W fleet. Each of those can make India-Boston non-stop in both directions. While they will need to deploy them, it may be a while before they expand their US network.

Qatar/Etihad/Emirates offer attractive services for easy one-stop connections all over India.

Yeah - my sense has always been that the Gulf airlines carry more passengers between India and Boston than would be feasible for direct flights.

From my sample size of one time flying on Qatar/Etihad/Emirates, the plane had a very high percentage of South Asian folks.

All three of those airlines also invest heavily to use South Asian cricket stars and teams as their advertising faces (like: here).
