I believe DZ was referring to the old Chamber of Commerce Building of 1923 which was replaced by the pregnant building, and Fiske Building of 1889 which was defaced by several midcentury "renovations" and demolished to make way for 75 State:

In case anyone was wondering, Google Earth just updated its imagery for Boston, including new Lechmere Station, the Red Bridge and the new State St tower.

It looks like it would have been woefully easy to install fare gates here. The current (albeit temporary) validation system is atrocious. I wonder if the city can extract station improvement money from any future developers in the immediate area.

I don't know if this is the place to ask this, but what's the chance that the new GL cars could be incorporated into 3 or 4 car trains in the near future? I know that they stopped them few years back to due "reliability" issues- could the new trains solve those problems/
