Re: Parcel 24
Sorry, but BeeLine's posts add more value to this forum than the one-liner complaints that makes up a large proportion of posts. BeeLine should keep posting -- many of us appreciate his stuff.
Re: Atlantic Wharf (formerly Russia Wharf)
the street wall of this building is a big win in my opinion. you have a good mix of restaurants that have different users at different times, in decidedly different spaces. i also love the boston society of architects space, particularly the...
Re: Atlantic Wharf (formerly Russia Wharf)
does anyone else feel that this building may have been more successful if they had foregone the grid design in favor of simple vertical lines? in its current form, the building strikes me as a bit more stout that it truly is; vertical lines may have...
Re: Liberty Wharf (Jimmy's Harborside)
Totally disagree. Sure, Liberty Wharf is a very clean and attractive set of buildings that (hopefully) will do a lot to humanize the scale of the neighborhood, but the ICA is iconic.
Re: W Hotel
Actually, the main redeeming quality of the W Hotel is its lobby bar. It is bumping, and very well designed. A pretty unique scene for Boston. On weekend nights, there's a line of girls in miniskirts and heels stretching around the block to get in. That's impressive for this...
trilogy/1330 boylston - high quality projects that are reinventing an entire neighborhood (in a good way). they're creating a sense of place on that stretch of boylston, where there really wasn't much of one before.
Does anyone know what's going on with this building? It's across the street from the Art Institute of Boston on Beacon Street, just outside Kenmore Square. Here's the Google Map/Street View of the area...

Re: Mandarin Oriental
overall, yes--the building looks cheap, largely due to the brick used. it's been said elsewhere on this thread, but the original cbt design showed the use of stone for the entire facade rather than just the street level, as well as stone balconies and balusters on the top...
is urban going into the first floor or the second (or both)? it looks like most of the work being done is just on the second floor. it'd be nice to have a mix of smaller retailers along this side of harvard ave--maybe break up the monotony of big box stores along the street (staples, tj maxx, etc)
Re: A st Highrise
Hi--to clarify, Goldman Properties IS run by Tony Goldman, an independent real estate developer with no affiliation to Goldman Sachs. Archon Group, however, is an affiliate of Goldman Sachs. See: http://www.archongroup.com/about.htm
Re: W Hotel
Hi everyone. I'm a long time reader, but a first time poster.
On the W Boston's website, there are some nice renderings of what the lobby area (aka the "living room") will look like:
