Herald Square | 385 Congress St | Portland

Am I getting the sense that major signature projects around Portland are utilizing out of state architects now compared to 10-20 years ago?
Archetype, SMRT, Whitten, Ryan Senatore, CWS, Winton Scott which all have several projects around Portland but...
Portland Art Museum is using Lever for the new addition
Old Port Square is using Safdie
385 Congress (Herald Square) is using CBT
Redfern has Holst for Washington Ave

The planning board meeting tonight has quite the agenda. 203 Fore Street hasn’t been talked about in years. Just checked into the meeting online and it’s been well over an hour spent on the first agenda item (out of 4 items)… they might be in that room till midnight!

Continuing… Pfeiffer (LA) and Perkins Eastman (NYC), then Elkus Manfredi (Boston) for USM Crewe Center and student center, dorm builds. And Roux will get international acclaim. Perhaps the Crewe too. Portland is or will no longer be a little and insignificant place.

Since the development team went back to city council with higher buildings (due to height limit change) has this project gone anywhere? Sounded like we would see site work in the spring and that never happened.

I am wondering if the expectation that the live nation venue was going to start first then the Hotel/Condo's? or wait till 2026 for the IZ zoning>

Any movement here since this is on the same block/same development team as the live nation venue which seems to be gaining some momentum?
I remember they adjusted to the rezoned blocks with 20+ story hotel/condo buildings instead of the original 10-15 story ones. Hoping these get moving at the same time this summer- Portland would see lots of cranes over their skyline.
